Vanimo is the capital and main government centre of the West Sepik or Sandaun (Sun down) province, located just 30 kms from the Indonesian border on the north coast of mainland PNG. Jayapura is accessible by road within a couple of hours and we are advised that there is an Indonesian consulate in Vanimo town to obtain a visa.
Vanimo is becoming popular with surfers for many reasons, such as its remoteness, lack of competition with waves, great breaks all accessible from the local area, and the variety of breaks from 2-10 feet, suitable for all levels of ability consistently throughout the season.
