This village owned lodge is designed in the local highlands architectural style and built largely from traditional materials. The central lodge overlooks the river and the accommodation facilities include 12 self contained units all with river views, television, telephone, refrigerator and tea/ coffee making facilities. Eight budget rooms with shared bathrooms facilities are also available.
At Kiburu, we have the philosophy that we need to nurture our environment and go to great lengths to ensure we have as minimal impact on our envrionment as possible. We collect water using the many rainwater tanks we have at the lodge and will soon be installing solar panels to further minimise our environmental impact.
Early risers will enjoy views of mountains surrounding mist covered valleys, and nature trails within the grounds contain unspoiled, scented flora and a variety of native birds and alpine orchids. Many activities and tours including trout fishing in the Mendi River, and bushwalking to traditional burial caves. White water rafting in the Mendi Valley and treks through the Southern Highlands can also be arranged. Kiburu Lodge’s experienced guides will share their extensive and insightful knowledge of these untouched areas.

The Tigo Inn provides a backpacker style accommodation in the centre of Mt. Hagen Town is small family oriented Inn with eight (8) rooms. The inn is located is just two minutes’ drive to the market and 5 minutes to the Mt. Hagen CBD. The rooms are affordable with common toilet, shower, kitchen, and lounge area. The inn has a conference facility that can cater for up to 30 pax.

Tupira Surf Club, Ulingan Bay is located approximately 180 kilometers north of Madang Town and about a 2 hour scenic drive from Madang Airport by sealed road along the beautiful north coast of Madang.
Tupira Surf Club is Madang Provinces first and only surf club in existence and is affiliated to the Surfing Association of Papua New Guinea.
The accommodation at Tupira Surf Club has 6 rooms and a room for 12. There is a new bungalow that has two rooms each ideal for couples and families. The seaside location of the houses mean that ocean breezes cool things down in the evenings.
The facility also has running water pumped down from natural springs for showers and 2 septic toilets. Power is provided by generators. Tupira Surf Club has a fully licensed bar to serve beverages.
