The Tourism Arts and Culture Minister Hon. Walter Schnaubelt MP said the National Executive Council (N.E.C.) had made the decision to replace Mr Agus. He thanked Mr Agus on behalf of the N.E.C. for his outstanding contributions to the development of the tourism sector in PNG. He also welcomed Mr Mossman saying the Ministry was looking forward to working under his leadership going forward.
Mr Agus thanked the Board, management and staff of PNG TPA and the tourism industry generally in PNG for their support over the last four years. He said he was happy with some of the major achievements under his tenure such as increasing the market profile of PNG tourism both locally and globally, putting more focus on product development and digital marketing, restructuring PNG TPA, and improving staff welfare.
Mr Agus said he was also happy with the support PNG TPA has provided to the PNG tourism sector including providing funding and marketing support to major cultural festivals. A career tourism officer, Mr Agus was employed as a probationary marketing officer in 2003 before making his was up the ladder to policy officer, policy manager, policy and planning director and CEO of PNG TPA.
Mr Mossman is not new to PNG TPA as he was the director corporate affairs for five years before being appointed acting CEO for a brief period prior to the permanent appointment of Mr. Jerry Agus in 2016.
He said one of his major focus will be on legislative changes within the authority by reviewing the TPA Act 1993 to make it more cohesive with modern global tourism trends and developments.
Mr Mossman thanked Mr Agus for his service to PNG tourism development and vowed to continued on from the good work done by his predecessor.
