Established in 2023, Sepik River Village Stay is an initiative of the villagers of Korogu Village at the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea.
They have built several new guesthouses which offer basic accommodations and meals to the intrepid traveller and adventurous tourist.
Nestled in the heart of the Sepik River Basin the Sepik River Village Stay accommodation offers a peaceful and serene setting that is perfect as a comfortable base camp for adventure and exploration of the unique river cultures.
Surrounded by beautiful gardens, authentic village life and the scenic river, the guesthouses are the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
River excursions and bird-watching tours are offered in 10-seat motorized canoes to the surrounding villages.
Ulumani – Treetops Rain-forest Lodge is owned and operated by the traditional landowners of the area. The lodge is their initiative to generate income in an ecologically sound and sustainable way, thereby ensuring the preservation of the rain forest and its diverse ecosystems for many generations to come. It consists of a two-room cottage and an eight-bedroom lodge set in the forested foothills of the Pini Ranges. All amenities are provided with power and hot and cold water. The cottage comfortably sleeps four guests and is fully self-contained with a main bedroom and second bedroom which doubles as the living area.
Butia Lodge at Kiriwina Island is a quiet, pleasant place to stay while visiting the Trobriand Islands. Located 5 minutes from the airstrip in Lousia, the lodge consist of seven separate bungalows, each equipped with a private bathroom, hot water and a porch. The Kiriwina Lodge is located 15 minutes south of the airport, on the lagoon side of the island. It has clean and comfortable accommodation and excellent dinners of fresh local crayfish. The lodge offers 19 self contained rooms, five with air conditioning and others with an overhead fan. A bar and dining room is available for guests. The lodge organizes tours to villages, caves and beaches for diving, snorkeling and fishing. Courtesy airport transfers are also catered for.
With its near decade of operation, Suki Eco-Lodge provides the best in freshwater game fishing for barramundi and Papuan black bass. The local people of Suki and the proprietor Mr Dawasi Tangora give an enthusiastic and hospitable welcome, as the area’s remoteness, which has preserved the fishing, also makes every visitor a treasured guest.
Located at Nakaku, Suki, the Lodge is minutes by banana boat from a huge network of waterholes which boast world-class habitat full of all the features that barra and black bass love. The Lodge employs highly knowledgeable local drivers and deckhands for the banana boats, which are available for daily hire. The Lodge is around forty scenic minutes by boat from the Suki airstrip. Flights connect with Port Moresby via Kiunga once a week.
