Clem’s Place, Tunnung Island

​Clem’s Place is a secluded eco-lodge nestled on Tunnung (Dunung) Island in the Three Island Harbour of New Hanover, New Ireland Province.  Accessible via a 2–3 hour boat journey from Kavieng, this intimate retreat offers an authentic Papua New Guinean experience, blending rustic charm with warm hospitality. Guests are accommodated in traditional bungalows constructed from woven sago leaves, complemented by shared facilities, and are treated to freshly prepared meals featuring locally sourced seafood and produce. The lodge is powered by 240V electricity and provides amenities such as refrigeration, linen, and towels. 

Beyond its tranquil setting, Clem’s Place serves as a gateway to a variety of activities, including surfing, snorkeling, fishing, birdwatching, and trekking. While the lodge itself doesn’t offer diving services, guests can arrange diving excursions through nearby operators to explore the region’s renowned WWII wrecks and vibrant marine life. Evenings at Clem’s Place are marked by communal gatherings, where guests can enjoy fireside chats, traditional island melodies, and stunning sunsets, fostering a sense of community and cultural immersion.

Napatana Lodge is the first Eco-tourism lodge in Alotau which is set in beautiful tropical gardens just back from the beach. It is a traditionally built pole house that reflects Milne Bay architecture and also displays the traditional building skills of local craftsman.
